EKKO Chartering was formed in New York in 1980. After over 20 years in business, we currently have a staff of 7 people including 5 brokers, with senior brokers each having a minimum of 15 years brokerage experience, an operations manager and an office manager. As a group we are handling over $100 million in freight bookings per annum.

Vessel waiting at anchorage to ultimately discharge 25,000 tons of wheat at Poti, Georgia. The shipment was part of a United States humanitarian aid program for the Caucasus region.

The company concentrates primarily on dry cargo ocean transportation in sizes ranging from about 15,000 dwt up to Panamax, and also niche market tonnage such as sea/river going vessels up to 5000 dwt. Commodities include agricultural products, fertilizer, coal, HBI, iron ore, and steels, along with a variety of other cargoes. On the liquid side, we have worked in liquid fertilizer and other products such as methanol, diesel oil and light oil products. Ekko eventually diversified and branched out into container transportation, inland transportation and stevedoring services, offering clients turn-key service from point of origin to point of final destination. We also provide transportation consulting services for clients such as the American Soya Association, ACDI/VOCA, USAID, and UNDP, among others.

Ekko has an active presence in the former Soviet Union, working with many local industrial groups and with humanitarian organizations, concluding both their shipping and inland transportation needs. On the commercial side, Ekko has provided multi-modal logistical service for complicated break-bulk shipments to and from Central Asia, in addition to vessel chartering service for many industrial concerns. Ekko has also managed contracts with the Government of the United States, the Russian Federation, and the United Nations for the delivery of humanitarian relief cargoes to the former Soviet Republics.

Historically Ekko has always been involved and continues to concentrate on the South American market, where we represent exclusively Transportos Ferreos and maintain close connections with various subsidiaries of the Tenaris Group such as Tamsa, Sidor and Siderca.

Paragon Line Ltd. is an operator that Ekko represents exclusively to help develop their time charter operation including negotiating COA's, booking cargoes from the freight market, chartering period tonnage in the handy size and panamax sectors, and assisting in all their operational needs.

Ekko has a very close relationship with many direct Charterers including major grain houses such as Cargill, Dreyfus, Bunge, and ADM, along with various operators and traders. Ekko is also the appointed broker in North America for ship owners including Marfin Management (Topic Tonnage), Sealink Marine, Comet Shipping, Droman Maritime, Ocean Agencies in London and Efnav Greece. This group of Owners represents approximately 35 vessels ranging from 20,000 dwt up to Panamax.
